Bali June 2015
At the AriPutri Hotel
We arrived into Benoa Harbour on the 28th May around midday along with Suesea. Had a nice welcome from shore crew and while awaiting customs immigration etc enjoyed afew cold Bintangs at the yachtclub. The rest of the fleet trickled in over the next few days and most crew opted for hotels in Sanur close to where the prize giving would be. It was too hot to stay on the boat in the marina without any breeze and the facilities were……well, I’ll leave you to imagine. So we also ended up at Hotel Ari Putri in Sanur with lovely air con and swimming pools, which needless to say Morg enjoyed to the max. The next week was spent just mooching around the hotel and local sreets and relaxing.
Prize giving was on Sat night at the Sanur Beach Hotel where a big stage and dinner seating had been set for all the entries and organisers. not sure what would have happened if it was raining, as no marquees or anything just in case. As it was the cushions on out chairs were saturate from last nights rain and everyone was walking around with big wet patches on their bums. I found the best bar at this place which was bar under a palm roof with great swinging chairs right next to the bar -could have stayed here for ages merrily sipping lime breezes, vodka and pieapple syrup in a glass ful of fresh limes and mint mmm heaven. So after the mandatory speeches and Balinese dancing performances prize giving got underway and MS won the rally. Warren and morg went up to collect the big trophy and medals, Morg kissed his medal when he received it, not sure where he got tat from but you had to chuckle.

A happy skipper with his two sons
Was a neat outcome for Warren as we hadnt raced the boat for for a while plus he had two of his sons on board which makes for a proud Dad. Morg got to know his big brother Tom better and Tom got to beat his little brother up a bit more which has got to be character building. So a great night was had by all with yum food and lots to drink. The others carried onto the lingerlonger bar but I had to take a worn out little guy home to bed.
Well we re-provisioned the boat and ourselves and Matt headed off to Lembongan for a night with some of the other boats. A nice swim and drinks on MS with Plus 14 and Slipstream. Aaah this is what its sposed to be like. Next day we motored sailed up to Gili Air against a 5 knot current.
